Tips to Wake-Up Earlier

Whether you want it or not, you are going to read it. Now, who doesn’t like to sleep for hours?!!?! I know it’s really good to dream for longer and enjoy. But the saying goes, “In order to make your dreams come true, you need to wake up and take productive actions”. It’s bitter truth. Now, let’s focus straight to how to take the first step to convert your dreams into reality. The first step is one of the toughest and unwanted step – ‘WAKE UP’!!! You are going to find out how…..


1. The Early Mindset

If you want to be ahead of the flow, be the “early bird,” then this is truly an attitude, a change of mindset. traditional wake-up call

When you begin to see the results of your early morning endeavors, this creates an internal change within your own motivation. Additionally, rising earlier allows you to schedule some exercise time even if it just walking.

Now you have even greater clarity and even more energy to tackle the rest of the day when others are just starting to awaken.

You know the saying: “The early bird gets the worm.” Now, I don’t know if you are in the worm business, or if you are even a bird for that matter. But, if you are an entrepreneur, the early time of the morning is when you can get a lot of work done.


2. Turn Off The LED Lights

Research shows that the blue lights that blink on so many of our computers, clocks, microwaves, televisions and even nightlights, actually stimulates our brain activity! This is true.

Our mind responds to everything it sees, hears or feels. Those lights keep us from enjoying deep, restful sleep. I turn off, or tape (black electrical tape) over all the lights in my room to ensure that the part of my brain that responds to light shuts down entirely at night.

Always have a plan to what you are going to do with the extra time you have in the morning by getting up early. The subconscious can play games with you if you don’t plan ahead. You may have  planned to wake up early on a different day and then did nothing with additional time, so the next time you planned to wake up early, your body said to you ” ‘Nope, I am still sleeping” and rolled over. So make a plan the day before and complete all duties, your subconscious will then smile. It’s  very powerful.


4. Wake-up Or Pay

If you really want to get up earlier in the morning, then put some of your hard earned cash on the line and get a couple people to act as referees to keep you honest. I found really cool site called for this kind of commitment. If you don’t do what you say you’re going to do, you not only have to pay-up, but your cash goes to an anti-charity too. A charity you wouldn’t want to be caught dead giving to. I strongly recommend you to use it.


 5. Get An Accountability Buddy

To wake up earlier, schedule a 15 minute early morning call with an accountability buddy. accountability-buddy

Share your daily plan, exercise, business calls, conversations, study schedule or whatever is important to each of you.

Next day, report back to each other on if you met the prior day’s stated goals and once again go over what you are committing to for the day. Repeat the next day and so on.


6. Stay Enthused

After a lot of research I can attest to the fact that when you are happy in what you are doing it is easier to get up and get moving.

 Believe me, If you are truly passionate about your work, life and career, you will not need an alarm clock. If you want to know your passion, I recommend you to read my previous article ‘How To Know Your Passion’.

 In summary,if you are into your work you wake up with more vigor and want to start earlier.


7. Acquire the Mindset of Successful People

collaborationThis is slightly similar to 1st tip ‘The Early Mindset’. Truly successful people get up earlier than anyone else. By the time the rest of the world is waking up, they already know what is going on not only in their world but also the rest of the world.

They also have as much if not more done than anyone else by the time every one is waking up. This includes YOU!

So if you want to be truly successful, then remember that your competitors are already up and running while you are literally still asleep on the job. GET UP and SEIZE the DAY!

The Famous & one of the most successful Hollywood actor, Will Smith, always says “When Others are sleeping, I am working.”


8. Have Your Family member Help Out

If you can’t get yourself up and going early in the  morning, consider getting your parents/brother/sister/spouse to help you out. Once I gave you ask any of them to turn on the news and lights when he/she get up, I started getting up earlier too… that’s a way to start the day off right!


alarmclock-morning9. Keep Your Alarm Clock Far Away

Keeping your alarm clock by your bedside is one of the biggest obstacles to waking up earlier.

One huge flaw exists for alarm clocks and that’s the snooze button. How many times do we wake up to the alarm only to slam our hand on the snooze button and roll back into the comforts of our sheets?

Place your alarm clock as far away from your bedside as possible, forcing you to climb out of bed for a short walk in order to shut off the alarm. It’s an old trick, but it gets your morning started.

    Yes sir v well said… I practice d last saying of urs, when I m into studies… I keep my phone which is on alarm, far away from the bed, so that I can get up n put it off…

    Sir… its better to read all this stuff… even enthusiastic… but when practically implemented it often fails….

      Dear Pujan.
      Thanks for commenting. To cultivate new habit, we need to take all those small steps to make new neural connections in our brain to generate new behavior. It can not be done overnight. Everything boils down to ‘Self-Discipline’. I personally strongly agree that nothing new happens without self discipline.
      I will talk about it sometimes in the future. Thanks for suggesting a new topic.
